To become a volunteer with CGHA, please ensure that you meet the necessary qualifications outlined in the Volunteer Volunteer Screening Policy (OWHA). Our team staff and volunteers who have contact with athletes are required to have the following.
1. Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders
Durham Regional Police (VSC)
-If you have previously submitted a Criminal Record Check (CRC)/Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), please note that it is valid for three years from the date of issuance.
-If your CRC/VSC was completed more than a year before the current season, you must submit a Criminal Declaration Form.
For example, if your CRC/VSC was completed in 2022, you will need to complete a declaration, download the CriminalDeclaration Form here.
This certification is mandatory for all volunteers.
2. Criminal Reference Check with Venerable Sector Search
You can obtain this check from Durham Regional Police. Download the volunteer letter required for this check here.
Please follow these steps when uploading your documents to RAMP.
1. Upload your Criminal Declaration Form under "Criminal Records."
2. Upload your CRC/VSC under "Vulnerable Sector Check."
Coaches Clinics and Certification Requirements

In addition to completing steps 1 and 2 above, trainers are also required to complete the Trainer Level 1 Qualification.
Youth aged 12 -17 years
As of November 1, 2018, non-government agencies are not authorized to receive any results of any youth records and youth are no longer permitted to apply for any level of police record check. Please visit the DRPS website for more information.
