NHL/NHLPA First Shift is designed for new hockey players, and Hockey Canada has developed a fun curriculum that focuses on:
- Small-area games and skill stations
- Wide variety of skating skills, puck handling, passing, and shooting exercises
- Discovering the sport through a variety of basic motor movement patterns
- Fun games to ensure participants enjoy a full range of hockey experiences
- All of the participants will be worked with by the instructor in a way that is based on praise and encouragement.
The cost is $299, and your player will receive:
- Bauer equipment (head-to-toe)
- an equipment fitting demonstration
- expert fit session
- 6 weeks of one-hour sessions
To be eligible to register, your child has to have never been enrolled in minor hockey, and be between the ages of 6 and 10 years old. (See Hockey Canada Terms and Conditions for more information)
