Flames Proud at DIFD Paint It Purple Tournament
This past weekend, our team proudly took part in the DIFD Paint It Purple Tournament, a special event that brings hockey communities together in support of an important cause. The girls competed with heart, effort, and determination in every game, finishing the weekend with one tie, one win, and two hard-fought losses. More than the results, it was the growth, teamwork, and resilience shown by every player that made this tournament such a memorable and meaningful experience.

The DIFD Paint It Purple Tournament was a fantastic opportunity for our team to challenge themselves against strong competition while continuing to grow both on and off the ice. Every game showed improvement in effort, teamwork, and confidence, with the girls battling hard, supporting one another, and never giving up—no matter the score.

While the final record included one tie, one win, and two losses, the results only tell part of the story. The real success was seen in strong backchecking, great passes, courageous puck battles, and the smiles and pride on the bench after every shift. These moments are what youth hockey is all about, and our players should be incredibly proud of how they represented themselves, their teammates, and the Clarington Flames.

Beyond the hockey, this tournament held special meaning because of its connection to DIFD (Deaf International Football Development). DIFD works to create opportunities for deaf athletes around the world, helping break down barriers to sport and inclusion. Supporting this cause reinforces the values we strive to teach our players—teamwork, empathy, and the importance of using sport to make a positive impact beyond the rink.

We are proud to have “Painted It Purple” alongside so many teams united for a great cause. Thank you to the tournament organizers, volunteers, families, and supporters who made the weekend such a success. Most of all, congratulations to our players for an outstanding effort and a weekend they can truly be proud of. 💜🏒
